5 ways you can change your life today

Everyone at some point or another has experienced that moment when they feel that a change is needed. From work, to friendships to lifestyle choices, a change, as many would say, can be a positive thing. Yes, it’s scary and yes, it’s not easy; here’s the trick, there may not be a lot of people willing to admit what has just been said.

But, change is forever present and avoiding it can be like swimming against the tide. That’s why we need to look at the things we can change and control those aspects of our lives to make a better, more positive outlook on our futures.

Of course, things will change when we don’t want them to. From a crisis to someone else deciding on it, we need to be prepared for all circumstances and ensure that we can respond to these changes without giving ourselves more stress and bring positivity to the new outlook on life.

So what can you do, today, or within a short scale of time that can enact such change in your life? Here are just a few suggestions.

Set Goals & Achieve Your Dreams

One of the biggest misconceptions about landing that dream job or making that million pounds is that you don’t need to plan it, that it all comes about. But what if we were to say that planning and creating a dream board, something that you could focus on, just for a few minutes every day would help set your mind to achieving your goals?

It is now being shown, scientifically, that the power of positive thought, coupled with a focus on your goals can make you more likely to achieve and have a positive influence on the rest of your life.

Choose something scary to do and, do it!

Is it climbing a mountain? Is it diving off a highboard? Is it holding a spider? Is it asking a man/woman you’ve just met at a coffee shop out on a date? Stepping out of your comfort zone can help change your life in a multitude of ways.

Think of the times that you didn’t do something because you were scared, and think about what happened to those that took a chance; in some ways, their lives are more enriched. It may have been a new job, it may have been learning a new language, it could be public speaking.

Choosing something scary to do ultimately means, learning to grow as an individual and seeing where you can push yourself to a new limit. So what are you waiting for? Leave the comfort zone and achieve what you always wanted to achieve.

Pick a new environment

This could be as simple as a new coffee shop to, “picking up sticks” and moving to a new location all together. A change of environment tends to be one of the biggest things you can do to completely change your life. New locations, places to see and things to discover ultimately means that you are pushing your boundaries into new areas of your life, and this can be a massively positive thing.

Think of all the new friendships that you can strike up with other people, the new hotspots that you can have in your life. You will need to sell your house fast and get going, but once you’ve made that decision, you can start planning all the great new things that being in a new environment will bring.

Eat healthy

Yes, it’s easier said than done. “Cooking healthy foods take time” or “healthy foods cost too much”. Both couldn’t be further from the truth. Supermarkets and local food stores provide a range of healthy foods that are easy to turn into lovely meals that take very little time all together.

What you need to do is plan ahead, and that is where people start to fall down. Take the time to list all the foods that you like eating over a week. From there, understand what it takes to make the dishes and then, in one day, usually a Sunday, start preparing all the food and freeze. That way you have a supply of good foods on hand that need to be taken out of the freezer in the morning.

There is of course more to this. You need to be strict and you need to understand what nutrients you need to start making that positive change to your diet. But once you go down the path of understanding this, it becomes easier over time. Trust us.

Exercise regularly

Just like food, there are too many excuses when it comes to exercise. Not having the time to not enjoying the gym are just put in the way of actually doing the work, which, by the way, has been proven to help you in a variety of ways.

Decreased cholesterol, lower blood pressure, release of endorphins and serotonin which helps with rest and relaxation.

You don’t need to join a gym to exercise nor do you spend hours every day. Science has shown that exercising at high intensity for 15 minutes (30 seconds on, 45 seconds rest) has been proven to burn as much as fat as an hour running.

If you don’t like training by yourself, you can always go with friends or join fitness clubs to get fit and have fun at the same time.
